Clay all day, every day!

Oh my goodness, these past several weeks have been a whirlwind of creative activity. I have been focussed on making work for my upcoming Open Studio on November 23 and 24. I'm participating in the Australian Ceramics Open Studio which is a nationwide event and several other creatives across Perth will be flinging their studio doors open too. I will mainly be displaying and selling my latest ceramic creations but that is just one part of my practice and I'll also have original paintings available, as well as prints and other things. I am so thrilled to finally feel settled enough here in Perth to do this. It's been a little over 2 years since we moved here from Brisbane and I only found my creative mojo again around midyear this year. Now I'm unstoppable and I never want to leave the studio! But alas, I must, lest I turn into a strange old hag with hunched shoulders and creaky limbs. Let's try and avoid that!

Signing up for the ceramic open studio was a really good idea as it has made me focus on clay and I have built a collection of pieces I am really so happy with! I feel like I've found my own distinctive style in regards to the surface decoration. The collection is a little rustic and a whole lot of whimsical. I'll show you a peek:

Aren't they fun? I really hope that people love them.

If you're in Perth and want to come along, then please do - the more the merrier! Here's a map of all of the participating ceramic studios in Perth:

The idea is that you can make a weekend of it and visit as many ceramic studios as you like. Cool, huh - I kinda wish I could visit all the other potters myself!

After my Open Studio I'll be participating in the Arts and Crafts Studios market on December 8 at Forrest Place in Perth city. I'll be bringing all of my unsold ceramics with me. It promises to be a great day out as the Arts and Crafts team have a whole heap of fun (and free!) activities planned.

Once that market is done I'll be taking some time out to have a break and plan for 2025. I also want to get back into painting so that I have some work for next year's art prize submissions. The creating never ends, and that's just how I like it. :)
