Hello salty friends! I'm back from a 3 week trip whipping around the country to see family and friends and I tell ya what, I am ready to rock and roll! I got back last Wednesday night, subsequently knocked over 4 days in bed with a cold, and then got straight back into the business of creating things. Then today I organised the rest of my workshops for 2024 and I'm so keen to get started sharing my creative ventures with others. I have 2 workshops and one 4 week course ready to roll and they can all be found HERE under the WORKSHOPS tab of my website. They are going to be a lot of fun - there'll be paper and paint, lots of experimentation and creative chaos and I simply cannot wait!
In terms of my own work I've been easing back into studio work the past few days, creating a couple of still lives and some other fun pieces. I didn't do much making whilst we were away but I did do a few pages in my sketchbook of wonderful nature things I saw on my adventures:
Speaking of my adventure I thought I should share a bit of it here, because it was a really wonderful trip and we got to spend so much time exploring in nature - far more than I thought we would be able to between visiting everyone on our list! So, even though we were traipsing around all over the place we did find a lot of time for restoration in the bush, the rainforest and by the sea. I even managed to fit in a day of whale watching, can you believe it? We started our trip in Darwin visiting my brother and we made the most of our 5 days up there. We spent a full day at Litchfield National Park which I really loved. Winter in the top end is so lovely - warm without the humidity - and it we had a pleasant day exploring the natural wonders of Litchfield. We did the obligatory croc feeding trip on the Adelaide river and enjoyed our fair share of top end sunsets which were off the freaking charts spectacular!
From Darwin we flew to Brisbane to hang with my mum and of course I fit in some rainforest time. I miss the rainforest so much living here in Perth as there is none of it to be found in these parts! We spent two days in the Sunshine Coast hinterland immersing ourselves in the lushness. We even saw two platypus in the Obi Obi river in Maleny - how lucky! Then from Brissie we headed down to Northern NSW to see my partner's family. It's always beautiful in that part of the country and we made sure to do all those things we miss doing over there by watching whales from the Byron lighthouse, visiting a waterfall in the hinterland and of course, spending lots of time on beaches. Ahhhh, yeah, we really did squeeze in a lot of little adventures and outdoors time, but we'd have been silly not to really as the weather was just perfect for our entire trip.
So now I'm back into the swing of things it's all systems go and I'm excited for what the second half of 2024 has in store. Hopefully lots of creativity, connection and great times! Yes, let's do it!
